The National – “Carin at the Liquor Store”

Don’t be fooled—there’s no liquor store in this video. We were expecting to see some liquor, maybe some beer, even this girl Carin, but all we get is negatives of some bearded dudes.

Also, that piano melody sounds like the one from “I Don’t Believe In The Sun.”

“Carin at the Liquor Store” is taken from The National’s upcoming Sleep Well Beast album.

Future Bible Heroes – “Living, Loving, Partygoing”

Stephin Merritt, from multiple angles, camping in his pajamas, while people play croquet around him: no other scenario could better depict his public persona.

Future Bible Heroes is a Magnetic Fields spinoff project (Merritt, Claudia Gonson and outsider Chris Ewen) that looked to be retired, but recently emerged with a new record (Partygoing) after an 11-year hiatus. Says Merge Records: “Running themes for this album are drinking, dancing, and death.”
