The Horseshoe isn’t necessarily known for its dance parties – it’s more of a beer-drinking-loud-guitar kind of place. Not last night.
The telltale signs of a dance party were all there, including security asking patrons not to stand on the furniture. Thankfully that wasn’t enforced. I did some of my best dancing while standing on a stool.
The second dance party hallmark came during the set’s first buildup and drop; hands in the air and excited shouts from the crowd. That’s when the bass suddenly went into full effect and I almost forgot it was a Tuesday night.
Anyone who’s seen MSTRKRFT live knows that their stage show is more or less similar to what you’re seeing in “Party Line” above, but don’t let that fool you into thinking there isn’t anything interesting to be seen during their set. The audience’s synchronized hand clapping to any and all cowbell sample could have almost been rehearsed.
So how was the Tuesday night dance party at The ‘Shoe? A success.
