Hot Panda – Bad Pop

badpop.jpg
The pop isn’t bad, it’s just cynical. You won’t find sunny dispositions in these tunes. It’s Hot Panda versus anyone and everyone—from the music industry to fast food chains.

It’s an unlikely format for the B.C. trio—almost like they set out to make pop songs as a gag (just because they could), and they can’t quite keep a straight face about it. They fall back into their old habits—shouted lyrics, angular guitar strikes—often and gleefully.

It’s a refreshing take on the Hot Panda we’re used to, though. Vocal harmonies are front and centre, and when they take a breather, they land close to Foxygen territory.
