The Low Anthem – “Charlie Darwin”

Not enough stop motion happening these days. Too much work for young animators, maybe.

Aside from the obvious nods to the song’s lyrical content, we see shades of Lost, in this (to be fair, we see that everywhere): a man arrives at the island by boat… uncovers mysteries in the ground… unplugs a crucial hole and the island starts to destroy itself.

“Charlie Darwin” comes from The Low Anthem’s Oh My God, Charlie Darwin (2009). Tom Jones covered it, in 2012, on his album Spirit in the Room. If that’s not the ultimate compliment, we don’t know what is.
