NXNE 2014: K.C. Accidental at 159 Manning

It was a house like any other, on a small residential street in Toronto, but this house had door staff and concerts blaring from its livingroom, basement and back yard.

It was a BYOB show, so no need to drink Budweiser, MiO or whatever other big brands were sponsoring shows around town. There were plenty of musicians to rub elbows with, and the night concluded with a reunion set from the late ’90s, pre-Broken-Social-Scene duo, K.C. Accidental (Charles Spearin and Kevin Drew). They only played seven-ish shows back in the day, so those who made it were in for a rare treat.

A couple hundred people huddled around the 10 x 10 ft stage. It felt more like a jam space then a formal show—a great vibe on a great day. You could tell Drew and Spearin were enjoying themselves—they were smiling more than the crowd.

Not sure if they’ll be doing any more shows, but you can check out “Tired Hands” up above and a short clip of the NXNE show down below.
