SIANspheric – The Owl

It’s not much, but we’ll take it. Eight years after I Wouldn’t Expect You To Understand, we finally have some new music from SIANspheric.

It’s only two songs—a limited-edition seven-inch released by Noyes Records—but the Hamilton foursome promised in 2012 they’d make an attempt at a new full-length, and this is a step in the right direction.

A-side track “The Owl”: all climax; vertiginous wash of guitar; likely soundtrack for an owl swooping down on an unsuspecting field mouse, in slow motion.

B-side track “Smokin’ Richie”: A SIANspheric lullaby (or as close as they’ll get to one)—gentle pace, soothing vocals and jarring instrumental intrusions.

No videos for these tunes, so here’s 1998’s “Nothing Stands,” down below.
