A co-worker recently commented on a shirt I was wearing that had clouds printed all over it (sounds hideous, I know, but honestly, it’s quite cute). She said that every time she saw me in it, she was reminded of The Orb’s “Little Fluffy Clouds”. That’s as good a reason as any to post the ’90s hit.
The track is based on an interview sample with singer Rickie Lee Jones, and there has been much speculation that the interviewer is none other than LeVar Burton during an episode of Reading Rainbow. This is not likely the case, and if you listen closely, the interviewer doesn’t really sound like Burton at all. That said, I’ve always thought that the introduction could easily be a conversation between Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald, back in their teen-star heyday. Is it just me?
“Little Fluffy Clouds” is from The Orb’s 1990 album The Orb’s Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (Big Life).
