Elephant Stone – Elephant Stone

We’ll save complaints about self-titling your second album for another day because we’re too busy being beguiled this disc.

Elephant Stone isn’t as eventful as The Seven Seas (or that stellar Glass Box EP), but the thrills are in there, for sure; you just have to dig for them. They’re out to mesmerize—this 2013 Elephant Stone—with dense, methodical pop; you may find it lacking whimsy, but rest assured that it’s designed to precisely penetrate your pleasure centres. Nine-minute-long, psychedelic, wall-of-guitar sitar jam in the middle of your album, anyone? Every record needs one of these.
