It’s 8 pm Thursday evening and the El Mocambo is empty, except for a few reporters, bloggers and photographers. Hopefully this won’t affect Adam & the Amethysts’ performance; it’s hard to give your all when you barely have an audience. Sometimes going first can suck.
Adam Waito doesn’t let it faze him. Keeping his eyes closed, he sings just like you would if your favourite song came on while you were by yourself in the car. Rebecca Lessard does the same, and if you follow suit, their encompassing sound can easily make you forget that there are only two people on stage.
“Prophecy” was a definite highlight. Full house or not, it was a great start to the night.
