Royal Canoe – Extended Play

Groovy, man. Winnipeg ne’er-do-wells Royal Canoe backed themselves into phat, key-party flow for this new four-song EP.

It’s a fit soundtrack for that Magic Bullet infomercial that unfolds the morning after the swinger party. You know the one—people stumble out of bed one or two at a time and wander into the kitchen, where the hosts are whipping up breakfast cocktails. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why all those ‘friends’ stayed overnight in the same house.

It’s perfectly natural, then, to feel a little naughty when Royal Canoe drop ostensibly innocent lines like: “The bathtubs in the hallway are here to stay.”

Recommended for those who’ve wondered what Matthew Dear covering Midnite Vultures might sound like.
